Injured
Tails:
A
good means to protect a hurt tail
are the foam insulation tubes for hot water
pipes, which you can get in DIY markets.
They come in different diameters, chose
one wide enough for the tail of your hound.
See to it that the injury get's enough
air, or only put it on when your dog is
inside and in danger of hurting his tail
again. If the injury is at the very tip,
you can fix the foam so that the tip just
looks out, so the wound will get enough
air. It is very light, but most dogs will
not wag their tail as much, which is a good
thing.

Broken
Tails
This
is rare, but can happen. Here also the insulation
foam tubes do a splendid service of fixing the
tail in position. As there is no wound,
the thing can be left on for a few days, but you
should check it anyway about every second
day.

Protecting
Tails
If
you have one of these Wolfhounds that propell
their tails like mad and beat doors and
corners like a drum, you're likely to have
a problem one day. Here a method of fixing
the tail is shown.

Step
1
shows
the
position
of
the
leg.
The
unshaded
part
is
the
sticky
side
of
the
tape.
Begin
by
wrapping
tape
loosely
around
the
hock
several
times
Step
2

Leave
a
“tether”
of
about
6
inches,
then
wrap
tape
snugly
around
tail
several
times,
at
the
level
where
the
tail
is
hanging
comfortably.
Step
4
To
finish
off,
wind
the
tape
back
around
the
tetherto
cober
the
sticky
sides.
It
will
form
a
“cord”,
which
is
stronger
and
non-adhesive.Finish
by
wapping
one
more
time
around
hock
Check
for
chafing,
if
it
does
not,
you
can
leave
it
for
several
day
